The Rich Men North of Richmond Phenomenon

Undoubtedly, “Rich Men North of Richmond” has struck a chord. (Pun intended.) An unsigned singer/songwriter from the South is topping the iTunes chart with a tune that many can identify with, since the lyrics accurately reflect middle/working class sentiment about the worsening trajectory of the country due, in part, to political corruption. I think it a bellwether moment in the US partly because of the reaction certain outlets on the Left have had to the song and the popularity it has garnered.

To wit, Wikipedia was caught stealth editing commentary which originally stated that Anthony’s “…lyrics revolve around common right wing talking points such as inflation (“dollar ain’t s**t”), high taxes (“taxed to no end”), child trafficking (“minors on an island”) and welfare abuse (“and the obese milkin’ welfare”). Additionally, the Los Angeles Times made it a point to particularly highlight the sentiments of leftists about the song as they classify it an “alt-right anthem” which is “offensive” and “fatphobic”. (Being scared of fat people might have just become peak absurdity.)

Obviously, this effort to shame the song and Anthony reeks of a coordinated discouragement campaign. As the gatekeepers notice that the public awakens to their gate keeping, the more vicious their efforts to suppress the truth in unrighteousness.

All this said, it is important to take heed not to idolize Mr. Anthony as many on the Right are doing. A few have scoured the Interwebs so as to background check the now popular troubadour and have found that he describes himself as a centrist, has regurgitated the leftist trope that the US’ strength lies in its diversity in a Fox News interview and a year old post celebrating Joe Biden as a good man. Some have taken this to mean that Anthony is nothing more than a clever plant or a charlatan. Others are calling for toleration because he is slowly improving his existence based on his declarations wherein he claims to have embraced Christianity very recently.

This hearkens to the most recent podcast episode we published. In it I criticize those who are looking for saviors apart from Christ. Conserative’s eventual disillusionment with Elon Musk is proof positive. Anthony’s sudden sainthood status among the same ilk also proves the same point. Rich Men North of Richmond is a good song. That’s that. If Anthony turns out to be an exploiter of conservative sentiment, those of us who attempt to discern all things would have avoided the cult of personality deception that Conservative Inc. helps peddle.

Christians Continue to Await More Saviors

Description: Quite a few Christians and not a few conservatives were giddy when Elon Musk purchased Twitter and promised to make it a bastion of free speech. Recent moves by Musk have left said people disillusioned. Why is this so, considering that Elon’s track record, personal and business, tells a different story than the altruistic one so many have wished were true. This is just another example of how modern Christians continue to adopt the flawed concept behind the question, “Is anybody going to do anything about this?” In truth, Jesus teaches us a different attitude: take direct action and don’t wait on others to engage in righteousness.

Sloganeers are Evil

Description: Recently, a self-avowed “romantically attracted to women”, The Gospel Coalition contributor stated that Christians can support some slogans such as Black Lives Matter, Love is Love and Women’s Rights are Human Rights. This happening is a prime example of why sloganeering is a tool constantly used by demagogues, with the express intent of fooling the undiscerning into accepting ideas that inherently contradict God’s design and Word. We explore the matter further during this edition of the podcast.

Christian Supported Programs Have Helped Destroy the Nuclear Family

Description: A recent study helped shed light on how American social programs, like the Great Society, have actual helped destroy the nuclear family in the country. The worst part about this is that Christians, when the program was first presented by President Lyndon Johnson in the 60s, supported the policy because it was “biblical” and “well-meaning”. In this episode we talk about how Christians are in many instances complicit in the advancement of the destruction of God’s design by their support of wicked policies, enabled by a lack of Biblical thought and consideration.

Can A.I. Rewrite the Bible?

The World Economic Forum’s resident “thinker” Yuval Noah Harari recently stated that A.I.s like ChatGPT would eventually “create” a new religion and even a new Bible. Is this possible or are his prognostications nothing more than a smokescreen for the digital puppet masters that program apps like chatbots to disseminate their secularist views?

Episode 11: Is “Deconstruction” Nothing More than Apostasy?

Description: We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Andy Stanley is the gift that keeps giving us material to talk about. Stanley seems keen to pestfully poke the eyes of those who see his grift. In addition to his endorsing the idea that homosexuals can inherit the kingdom of God, now he’s openly endorsing apostasy, cleverly using the euphemism “deconstruction” in order to avoid having to answer the direct implications of what he teaches. What, pray tell, is “deconstruction” and is it Biblical? We answer the question during this edition of the podcast.

Episode 10: Andy Stanley Calls God’s Account of Creation a Lie

Description: Without a doubt, Andy Stanley has given us a lot of material to talk about lately. Among the most recent dunderheaded declarations is Stanley’s claim that God used evolution in order to create the world. How does Andy arrive at such a stupid conclusion? Stanley declares that the Lord withheld such information because He “accommodates” to our “capacity”. In this episode we discern how such flawed logic impugns God’s character by calling Him a liar and insults peoples everywhere by calling them too stupid to understand basic narratives.

Episode 9: The Nashville Tragedy: Sympathy for the Perp & Blame for the Victims

Description: The six deceased hadn’t been laid six feet under yet and the now all-too predictable happened – the calloused charlatans couldn’t wait to use whatever outlet is available to them in order to screech for more gun control and even vilify the victims as deserving of what they got. During this episode of the podcast, we document how mainstream voices are attempting to suppress the truth about what this tragedy evidences – the promotion of and end result of LGBT militancy, the vitriol against Christians leading to violence against the same and how many cowardly Christians helped this entire demonic enterprise advance via their silence or outright promotion.

Episode 8: TGC Author Accuses Homeschooling Parents of Selfishness

Description: Jen Wilkin, a writer for the Gospel Coalition and a speaker, recently engaged in a bit of Scriptural misinterpretation in order to subtly denounce the reasons homeschooling parents pull their children from the public schooling system, classifying their motivations as conceited and ignorant of the effect such an act would have the on the “community”. Curious, because Joshua mustn’t have cared what his Hebrew kinsmen thought of him when he chastised their indifference toward honoring God by stating, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”. According to Wilkin, the Biblical principle espoused by Joshua and others is worthy of condemnation. We discuss further in this episode of ATA.

Episode 7: How Relationship “Experts” Detest God’s Design for Men and Women

Description: Recently, I was referred to an article that was published on The Hill in which the author argues, essentially, that the current plight plaguing men, which includes loneliness and isolation from the opposite sex, is their fault. In this episode, I argue that these are the very same charlatans who convinced the public years ago to call into question God’s design for humanity – to the detriment of all. Now they’re back seeking to avoid fault for their maliciousness and arguing that the solution to the problems they started is more of the same!
